Telstra’s Whispir Conversation Platform is getting ready to go global

1 min read

Telstra’s Whispir Conversation Platform is set to go global from the end of month, with the communications company aiming replicate its service delivery to Australian enterprise and government customers on an international scale. The Whispir platform is a Cloud-based enterprise service which bundles SMS, voice, web, email, mobile data and social media networks. Telstra invested $4 million in the Australian software vendor in December to support the Melbourne-based company’s expansion, and on the flipside, adding further capabilities to its applications play. Telstra global enterprise and services director of marketing, portfolio, and pricing, Nathan Bell, forecasts significant growth for Whispir, which will build on its existing customer base of more than 1.6 million users.

Telstra Global customers will be able to dial into the Whispir Conversation Platform from the end of August, with the telco announcing today that it will tie the enterprise communication service into its international application product range. Whispir’s software-as-a-service platform allows organisations to communicate both internally and externally via SMS, voice, web, email, mobile data, and social media networks. Telstra has been offering the service to its domestic customers for years. In fact, the telco pumped AU$4 million into the Melbourne-based Whispir at the end of 2012, as part of its AU$800 million push into cloud services technology. “We have an exclusive relationship with Telstra, and this is an extension to the company’s domestic business,” a spokesperson for Whispir told ZDNet. “We’ve got an office in Singapore, and we’ve got global customers using the Whispir product, but what’s being done here is to tie in the product with Telstra Global.” Now that Telstra is launching the service into its Global business, Whispir CEO Jeromy Wells said the move would help accelerate the business’ international growth, particularly in the financial and media sectors. Nathan Bell, Telstra Global Enterprise and Services’ director of marketing, portfolio, and pricing, said Telstra would draw upon its experience in delivering the Whispir platform to its domestic customers as it rolls out the service globally.
