Texas Instruments has surprised everyone with a bombshell, a 60-billion-dollar chip development plan. This plan will span across the states of Texas and Utah. This plan is not just building factories. It’s actually a strategic decision to bring the production of chips back to the U.S. instead of relying on countries like China, Korea, and Taiwan, etc.

Let’s be honest, foundational chips do not usually make headlines. However, this time they should. The seven-fab structure is designed by TI to manufacture the type of analog and embedded chip that is used to power everything from your car to a smart fridge. They are not just idling; this proposal could establish over 60,000+ jobs. In addition, it can enhance the security of the U.S. supply chain and can also provide Asia with a serious competitor.

This is not only about politics; it’s about future-proofing. We live in a world where chips are now as important as oil. And Texas Instruments is obviously taking it seriously. With the increasing demand for AI, global tensions are rising. All the nations are interested in becoming independent in chip production; TI is doing the same to give the United States an opportunity.

Everyone knows that it’s not an easy task. Fab construction requires years, and reskilling is required in the workforce. However, this is a bold type of decision that shows real vision. TI is not waiting to see the world change, but they are helping to shape it.
