Over the next several months, the United States Postal Service will be expanding its Informed Delivery service, which sends customers an email containing an image of the physical mail that they’re supposed to receive that day. Although it’s free, customers must sign up for the service online, assuming that it’s available in their zip code. The USPS already takes pictures of all the mail it sends, for both logistical and security reasons, so sending the images to customers isn’t all that difficult, although the service doesn’t include packages.
