Trains don’t cause nearly as many injuries as cars do, but the injuries they do cause tend to be far more severe. Japan knows this all too well with the 221 cases of people being hit by trains it had between April 2013 and 2014. It’s not all that surprising that a significant chunk of these people were drunk, which actually somewhat simplifies the problem since Japan is now installing automated security cameras that can detect whether or not a person is intoxicated and alert the station attendants.
