If you don’t want to shell out for the 4K screen, you can opt for a 1,920×1,080-pixel HD screen instead. But where would be the fun in that? The Toshiba Satellite P50t is a 15.6-inch laptop with a pixel per inch rating of 282ppi. In comparison, the top-of-the-range 15.4-inch MacBook Pro has 220ppi. The higher resolution will make the P50t ideal for photographers, graphic designers, or anyone who really wants to see a cat video in amazing detail.

With four times as many pixels as 1080p “full” HD, 4k resolution is quickly infiltrating the display industry, already making an impact in the TV market and reaching desktop monitors. Laptop screens are a natural next step, and Toshiba is doing its part by ushering in a new notebook with an optional Ultra HD display. The Satellite P50t will be the company’s first to offer a 3,840×2,160 15.6-inch screen, which works out to a mean 282 pixels per inch. Toshiba says each 4k display is calibrated by Portrait Displays’ Chroma Tune software and is Technicolor Color Certified to fine tune the color gamut for the designers, digital artists, and enthusiasts who will be buying this configuration.
