Vin Diesel has confirmed there’s going to be a Fast & Furious 8

Fast & Furious is a film series that refuses to die, and with good reason. Aside from Star Wars and a few others, no film series makes it past five films without there being a significant quality drop, but the seventh film in the Fast & Furious franchise has turned out to be its greatest yet, and has already earned more than $1 billion. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that there’s an eighth movie in the works, as confirmed by Vin Diesel himself.

It’s not often (or ever?) that you can name a 7th sequel in a franchise as arguably the strongest. But that seems to be the case for Furious 7, which is already one of the biggest blockbusters in recent years and one of the most successful films — and film franchises — of all time. So it’s no surprise that yet another installment of the high-octane series is on the way, and now we know when that movie will roar into theaters. During the recently concluded CinemaCon event in Las Vegas, Universal Pictures announced its upcoming slate of films and offered a preview of some films and a schedule for their release. When the conversation turned to the future of the Fast & Furious franchise, series star Vin Diesel took the stage to provide some big news: The next film in the franchise will hit theaters April 14, 2017.
