Following hot on the heels of the announcement of it’s $1.1 billion funding round, Xiaomi president Lei Jun has confirmed that the Chinese company’s next flagship smartphone will be launching in January. This seems to support rumors that the successor to the Mi4 will be launching at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next month.

Xiaomi looks to be expanding its already extensive product line-up even further early next year. Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, has announced, via Weibo, that the company is preparing to introduce its next flagship device sometime in January 2015. Unfortunately for us, no further details about the device or launch date have been given out yet. Speculation is ranging from a new Mi flagship smartphone, although it seems unlikely that the Mi5 would arrive so soon after its predecessor, to a larger 5.5-inch Mi4S refresh or a successor to popular low cost RedMi Note. A tablet could also be on the cards, as the company launched its first tablet, the Mi Pad, more than 6 months ago.
