Xiaomi may be called the “Apple of China” because of how much it copies the company, but that doesn’t mean its not afraid to copy Samsung as well. Some new rumors out of China claim that Xiaomi is planning to release a smartphone with a curved display alongside its high-end flagship later this year, similar to what Samsung did with the Galaxy S6. What’s even funnier is the claim that this device will be called the Xiaomi Mi Edge… it’s like the company doesn’t even care about seeming like it doesn’t copy everyone else.

Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi, which is yet to release the high-end Mi5 smartphone, is now rumoured to be launching an Edge handset. This device is said to feature a curved display similar to the recent Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. According to a MyDriver China (translated) report, Xiaomi’s curved display smartphone would be termed Xiaomi Mi Edge. This smartphone is rumoured to feature a similar outer form factor as that of the current Redmi Note. MyDriver also hints that this smartphone will feature a dual-curved display, having pixel densities of 565ppi, which is said to be similar to Samsung’s curved-edge screen. The former is said to feature a 5.2in 2K display. The purported Xiaomi Mi Edge is said to be priced at 2,500 yuan ($392, £254). Alongside the rumoured curved-display smartphone, Xiaomi is also rumoured to launch an exclusively-branded tablet and a smartwatch, during October.
