Google Play Music has long been a solid option for uploading and accessing your music collection wherever you are, but using the Music Manager app to actually get your songs into the cloud wasn’t always the smoothest or most intuitive process. However, a new feature tucked away in the experimental “labs” section of Play Music should make this process a lot easier — users can now upload whatever music they want straight through the browser using simple drag-and-drop.
In an effort to get more music lovers on board with its music streaming services, Google added the ability for users to upload music files directly to their Google Music accounts through the Chrome browser. Previously, Google Music users have only been able to do so with the Music Manager desktop application, which meant dropping the physical music file into the designated music folder, and then waiting for the app to sync it up to an account up in the cloud. To enable the ability to upload music through Chrome, simply flip the switch in Labs. The feature will also introduce a nifty little mini player and let you download music from your library without installing the Music Manager.
