The cloud infrastructure of Amazon is set to grow tremendously as the current AI boom is being experienced. During the recent meeting, the Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy said that Amazon Web Services (AWS) had a potential of building up to $600 billion in annual revenues, which is a twofold estimate of the $300 billion estimate that was issued ten years ago.
In the above projection by Reuters on 17 March 2026, the role of AI as a driver of growth of cloud computing is emphasized.
As of 2025, according to data from Synergy Research Group, 63% of enterprise spending on cloud infrastructure services in Q3 came from Amazon, Microsoft, and Google combined.
It was 62% four quarters ago and 61% four quarters prior. As the global market value increased from $68 billion eight quarters ago to $107 billion in Q3 due to the surge in cloud usage, their market share gradually increased.
Amazon’s market share has been steadily declining among the big three, while Google and Microsoft have been increasing.

Digits Keep on Soaring to the Hype 🔗
Online sales have increased by 12% to $716.9 billion in 2025 with AWS generating $128.7 billion 20% higher than it was last year. This expansion is credited to increased need of top-performance chips as well as inference tools that are related with AI workloads.
Accelerated by Strategic Moves. Amazon is collaborating with NVIDIA on AI assistants to be used in cars and Cerebras to achieve faster speeds of inference.
Additionally, Amazon and OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, have a multi-year strategic partnership that involves up to $50 billion in investment to speed up AI innovation. The collaboration includes OpenAI’s widespread use of Amazon’s proprietary Trainium AI chips.
Expert Take and Stock Buzz 🔗
Wedbush’s Dan Ives said:
This is the ‘renaissance of growth’ that’s about to happen at Amazon.
Since the announcement, Amazon stock rose 1.63% to $215.20 on 17 March, a positive sign of investor enthusiasm about the continuity of the momentum.

Bold Path Ahead 🔗
The key to success will be a successful implementation of its use in the face of high competition, in particular, OpenAI integration with Azure and TPUs in Google.
Still, the wide ecosystem that AWS boasts of and its constant innovation of the chips put it in a great position to dominate the next generation of AI inference.
With more and more businesses spending on the use of cloud computing, it is anticipated that AWS will become not only the backbone, but the AI giant, which will lead to an increase in the value of Amazon.
