If you want to see the state of first-person shooters today, you need to only look towards the videos coming out of the Battlefield 4 beta game play. The multiplayer seems pretty sick.
I’d write more, but I have to go play more of the game. Even in beta, it’s addictive.

There will also be new weapons, modifications, vehicles and so much more to go with the improved destruction.
