The upcoming Venice smartphone has the potential to save BlackBerry, or at least slow its demise, because it’s expected to be the first-ever device from the company to run on Android instead of BlackBerry OS. We don’t have anything official to go on, but all reports suggest that it’ll definitely be an Android device, and some recently leaked renders show us that it’ll be a pretty nice looking device as well with its physical keyboard and touch screen. Alongside the leaked renders were claims that the smartphone will be launching this November.

BlackBerry isn’t exactly the most prominent company out there at the moment. This Canada-based smartphone OEM hasn’t been doing all that well as far as smartphone sales go. BlackBerry has been having issues selling enough devices for years now, and there are a number of reasons for that. It took the company quite a long time to modernize their UI, and when they finally did that, it was basically too late. BlackBerry has introduced a number of BB10-powered smartphones over the last couple of years, but they didn’t exactly sell well. We’ve seen a number of rumors lately that BlackBerry might be acquired by a third-party company, and a number of tech giants were mentioned, but none of them actually pulled the trigger just yet, and BlackBerry still insists they’ll make it on their own. That being said, the company’s ‘Venice’ device has been mentioned quite a few times over the last couple of weeks. We’ve seen a number of leaks and rumors when it comes to this device. Why is it interesting? Well, it’s reportedly running Android OS, which many consumers find quite interesting.
