In recent times Canva has been able to grow its creative offerings by acquiring two influential organisations: the animation studio in the UK based on Cavalry and the artificial intelligence-driven advertising platform Mango AI.

These deals were released on Monday and they aim to fill strategic gaps in motion graphics, and the AI-driven market. Therefore, supporting Canva’s goal of becoming a one-stop shop of professional video and performance marketing solutions.

Canva added.

By bringing Cavalry alongside Affinity, we’re closing that [motion editing] gap and unlocking a complete professional suite spanning photo, vector, layout, and now motion editing,” the company said in a blog post. “Together, these tools form the foundation of a full-stack Creative OS for professional work, while preserving the depth and control professional creatives rely on.

Animation Power Boost

Cavalry is the manufacturer of 2-dimensional motion graphics equipment aimed at advertisements, game applications, and generative art. These additions complement the already existing Affinity suite found in Canva, which in turn was also purchased in 2024 and is currently being offered to users who have gone past 5 million downloads at no charge.

Affinity already has strong photo and layout editing, and the integration of Cavalry motion capabilities provides an entire motion Creative OS with an opportunity to serve the needs of the professional, but without the workflow latency. This addition is a successful accumulation to address a significant gap, allowing the creators to bring animation to one platform for the first time.

Marketing AI Edge

Mango AI is a company that specializes in increasing the quality of video ads by using reinforcement methods through the assistance of former Netflix data scientists Nirmal Govind and Vinith Misra. Govind has joined Canva in the position of the first Chief Algorithms Officer, and Misra is working on the improvement of marketing products.

The platform’s acquisition of Magicbrief in January 2025 as well as the already existing Canva Grow offering, which has already secured big brands as customers of the platform to convert their static-to-Meta assets.

Growth Surge Analyzed

Canva had a 20% increase in monthly active users at the end of 2025, a growth that was aided by the use of its AI tools. In 2025, Canva claimed to have over 31 million paying users and over 265 million monthly active users.

The statement;

AI is great at getting you to 80%.

Adams said.

That last 20% where you’re confident that you can push this piece of content out and truly represent your brand and speak to your audience and achieve the goals that you want to achieve is vital to have, and that last 20% is really tricky to do.

Additionally, with $500 million in ARR, the subscription-based company’s B2B business which serves businesses with more than 25 seats grew by 100%.

This is an indication of the fourth and fifth acquisition of the firm in the span of two years, which is a strategic integration of artificial intelligence potentials and innovative resources amid high competition that Adobe poses. Canva has emerged as one of the most widely used creative platforms.

Looking Ahead

It is estimated that there will be a churn in video creation and use of granular advertising metrics by Canva Grow that may increase the number of users to more enterprise segments by the end of 2026. Having all the professional tools offered, Canva can attract even more market share in the creative software market.
