The rumors according to which Apple will make the transition towards OLED displays for its iPhones and iPads have been making the rounds for years. However, this doesn’t mean that Apple won’t make the jump at some point or that it hasn’t at least considered the pros and cons of such a move. Aside switching to OLED displays for its smartphones and tablets, another hot topic among discussion boards is when will Apple start using flexible displays. Samsung and LG have released smartphones featuring this kind of tech since 2013, so it’s only natural for people to wonder when will the Cupertino-based company hop on the “flexible” bandwagon. Well, according to a new report, not sometime soon. Join us after the break for more. According to the South Korean media, which is citing an unnamed industry source, it is “very likely” that the first iPhone with a flexible display will be released in 2018. The same source says that Apple’s display suppliers are “working on it” (as in trying to increase flexible OLED manufacturing capacity) and that releasing an iPhone with a flexible OLED display will “create a huge market”.
