Samsung launched the Galaxy S5 and the phone did not live up to fanboy expectations. The trouble for Samsung is that it’s gaining quite a few followers, including heaps of fanboys. That’s what you get when you emulate Apple too much. Being fanboys, the looney fringe of Samsung’s consumer base often engages in misinformation and churns out copious amounts of FUD. This is pretty much why many in the community view every new Galaxy S as a huge disappointment, since it can’t live up to fanboy expectations.

So just yesterday Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S5, one of the more highly-anticipated smartphones of 2014. The hardware features of the handset were as usual pretty high-end, but interestingly enough Samsung did not make any mention regarding the use of their own Exynos chipsets. According to the announcement, the handset would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core chipset clocked at 2.5GHz, but now thanks to a recent infographic released by Samsungon their website, it turns that there will be an octa-core variant of the Galaxy S5. Samsung has not made an official announcement regarding this other Galaxy S5 variant, so we’re not sure if this octa-core variant will rely on Samsung’s Exynos 5 chipset with ARM’s big.LITTLEarchitecture, or if it will be a “true” octa-core chipset like what MediaTek has created for themselves.
