Siemens has been one of the worlds largest tech companies for more than a century, back when the term “technology company” meant something a lot different then what it does today. The German company was even one of the biggest names in the handset market up until around 2005, and while its prominence in this area has declined significantly, one of the company’s former divisions is far from done with the mobile world. In fact, Gigaset, which is the successor to the mobile division that Siemens sold to Arques Industries back in 2008, will be unveiling a new high-end smartphone at IFA in Berlin next month.
