Remember a few months ago when there were reports that iOS 9 might be nearly impossible to jailbreak? Well someone must have forgotten to tell that to iH8snow, because the well-known iOS hacker recently published a YouTube video that shows an iPhone 5 running an untethered jailbroken version of iOS 9. The funniest part about the video is the fact that iOS 9 hasn’t even been released yet, but iH8snow did admit that it’s a somewhat jerry rigged jailbreak that most people won’t be able to replicate.

Well-known iOS hacker “iH8snow” published a new YouTube video last night showing off the first untethered jailbreak for the as-of-yet-unreleased iOS 9. The modified iPhone 5 is running the GM build of the software, which will be released to the public on Wednesday. iH8sn0w says that the jailbreak shown in the video, is “dirty and hacky,” but nonetheless a “proper jailbreak,” which he confirmed also works on the iOS 9.1 beta, though that’s not shown in the video. Unfortunately for users who may be hoping to get their tweaks up and running on the latest operating system soon, iH8sn0w says he doesn’t have any plans to publish this software. However, since the video proves that it’s possible to create an untethered iOS 9 jailbreak, another developer could build and release one at some point after the release. Until that happens, however, iPhone owners who want to keep their tweaks should remain back on iOS 8.4. With iOS 9.1 beta introducing new emojis and improved performance, both of which will certainly be a big draw for many users, jailbreak developers may want to hold off on releasing anything until that update is released as well. You can see iH8sn0w’s video below.
