The Xbox One is now outselling the PlayStation 4 for once

The PlayStation 4 has definitely been winning this generation’s console war, mostly due to how Microsoft handled the Xbox One’s launch, but now it looks like the Xbox One is starting to close the gap. Microsoft released the New Xbox One Experience earlier this week, which completely redesigned the consoles interface and added backwards compatibility with more than a hundred Xbox 360 games, with more to come in the future. Pair that with the recent launch of Halo 5, and it’s no surprise that the Xbox One has started outselling the PlayStation 4 for the first time in months.

There is no denying that this has been a big week for Microsoft’s Xbox One console. Just yesterday, Microsoft released the New Xbox One Experience (NXOE) update which brings an entirely redesigned interface and backwards compatibility with a ton of Xbox 360 games. If this wasn’t enough, Microsoft has now released a statement announcing that the Xbox One console has outsold the PS4 for the month of October. Though NPD has yet to release the data, several Xbox team members have taken to Twitter to announced the news. According to Microsoft, sales of the console were up 81% over the same month last year. Halo 5 also topped the charts for last month, ranking number one overall. It’s no secret that Microsoft’s console had a rough start, but the Xbox team has been hard at work listening to feedback and focusing on introducing new console bundles and premium hardware. Needless to say, the battle for console sale supremacy is only going to heat up more as we enter the crucial holiday season.
