If there was one thing that Apple customers have always asked Apple for, it would be larger displays. This is thanks to Android and Windows Phone OEMs who have released devices whose screens measure more than 1-inch bigger than Apple’s iPhones. Well earlier today, Apple finally listened to their customers with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Both phones feature significantly larger displays than their predecessors along with a host of other new features and improvements, but will all of it be enough to convince customers to make the switch? Well apparently Apple’s CEO Tim Cook thinks so. Speaking to The Wall Street Journal in an interview, Cook was quoted as saying that the new iPhone 6 models will trigger “the mother of all upgrades.”

Two hours after introducing a pair of larger iPhones, a new smartwatch, and a new payments system, Apple ‘s AAPL -0.38% normally reserved CEO Tim Cook said he was still riding high on adrenaline. The event marked a defining moment for Cook, who has been dogged by questions about whether he, as CEO, would be able to sustain Apple’s product-making magic. He seemed firmly in command of the company on its most significant new product announcement since he took over as CEO in 2011. Cook received a standing ovation from employees in attendance when he said there’s “one more thing” – an act of showmanship once reserved for Steve Jobs, the company’s former chief executive. In a short interview, Cook said the announcements were a “statement of Apple” and that it was “one of the most important” days in the company’s history. Not surprisingly, he was bullish about the new products that the company unveiled on Tuesday. Cook said he expects the introduction of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will trigger “the mother of all upgrades.” While the bigger screens will capture most of the attention, Cook said the phones are “appreciably better in every single way.” He said he expects Android users to look at switching to the iPhone. This is important because Android accounts for 85% of world-wide smartphone sales.
