Back in 2013, Oppo’s VP, Pete Lau, resigned in order to start up the OnePlus company which is responsible for the OnePlus One Android handset that runs on CyanogenMod. That being said, it would seem that apart from the fact that Pete Lau used to work for Oppo, there’s really nothing else that ties both companies together, or is there? It seems that OnePlus has one stockholder which turns out to be Oppo, thus suggesting that OnePlus might actually be an Oppo subsidiary.

OnePlus is a new smartphone maker that has been in the spotlight recently. Its initial offering called the OnePlus One boasts of premium specifications while being priced lower than the competition. The device sports a 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD display, 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 4G LTE support and is priced starting at $299. OnePlus was formed by Pete Lau who resigned as VP of Oppo. During the formation of the company Lau said that he wanted to create the “best possible product for users worldwide.” A lot of questions were asked back then on who really owns OnePlus with Lau denying that Oppo wholly owns OnePlus. People noticed that the OnePlus One even looks similar to the Oppo Find 7 which fueled further speculation.
