Japanese messaging app Line revealed that it now has 400 million registered users. While the app is most popular in Japan, it boasts having over 10 million users in 10 countries – including Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Mexico, and the US. The company also revealed today that the chat app hit new highs in 2014 in terms of usage – 10 billion messages in one day; 1.8 billion stickers sent in a single day; and over 12 million online calls in one day.

This means it has tacked on 100 million users in about five months, given that its total number of registered users exceeded 300 million in November last year. Line notes that growing user numbers in countries such as North America and Europe have contributed to the “already large” user base in Spain and Southeast Asia among other territories. It also says that the number of new users signing up daily has reached “around 1.7 million per day, indicating rapid growth worldwide.”
