The world of dating is going to get easier – and more complicated – thanks to Google glass. It’s already so easy to find out about various topics or to learn about a person in particular just by using our smartphones, but when Google Glass arrives, it will make it easier to go covert with the date-impressing research.
Okay, so it won’t. So the video below is satirical and you can’t really get away with being on a date in the middle of a political discussion while watching football. It doesn’t matter. The funny nature of this video should be taken at face value but the real implications of what Google Glass, Apple iWatch, Eidos Outcomes, or any of the other innovations in wearable tech should be strongly considered. Technology is accelerating. We know that so well it doesn’t even have to be stated. We have access to so many more gadgets today than we did just a decade ago that it’s almost scary.
Actually, to some, it really is scary. The ever connected world is a world without the same connections that drove civilization for thousands of years. Family. Friends. Face to face. Conversations. These are the things that the internet, social media, and the gadgets we play with today take away from. They weren’t intended to. They were supposed to connect us. The exact opposite has happened and the future looks to be more of the same.
This isn’t the right blog post to get into a long editorial commentary about the state of a deteriorating society surrounding itself with technology to cope with a failing existence. I would love to go into the scientific, philosophical, and religious implications of technology at some point. That’s a future blog post. For now, put on your happy side and watch this funny video.
