A/B testing startup, Predictive Edge, has been acquired by Dropbox

Dropbox has made another acquisition: Predictive Edge, a startup that had built a way to personalize e-commerce offerings, along with dynamic pricing, for marketers to send out to users and run A/B tests around them. The service will be shut down, and the founders will be working on something different, as they note in an announcement on the site: “Predictive Edge is joining forces with Dropbox!,” the company writes. “Going forward we’ll be focused on solving problems outside the world of A/B testing. As of today, you can no longer sign-up for our service, and we’ve informed current customers that our product will no longer be supported. Many thanks to you all for your feedback & support, and here’s to a new chapter!”

Another week, another Dropbox acquisition — seriously, when will it end? The file-storage company has acquired Predictive Edge at undisclosed terms, and it’s shutting down the A/B testing startup immediately, according to the company’s website. The team will join Dropbox and work on non-A/B testing projects. This is the latest startup acquisition from Dropbox in the last several weeks. The company acquired data analytics startup Parastructure, cloud security startup MobileSpan, and messaging startup DropTalk in June alone. Predictive Edge’s tools enabled marketers to test and optimize their online commerce activities, much like website A/B testing. “Our approach focuses on the personalization aspect [showing the right person the right offer at the right time] rather than simply being an editor for landing pages,” the company wrote in an email to VentureBeat this past March. From Predictive Edge’s website: “Predictive Edge is joining forces with Dropbox! Going forward we’ll be focused on solving problems outside the world of A/B testing. As of today, you can no longer sign-up for our service, and we’ve informed current customers that our product will no longer be supported. Many thanks to you all for your feedback & support, and here’s to a new chapter!”
