All I Want For Christmas Is an iPad Nano

Steve Jobs Goin Bananas

You may be reading this on an iPad. Take a moment, and step back, and look at that thing. Just for a moment. Really look at it. All chunky, and huge. iPad? More like… like, i…Big…dumb. iDumb. Yeah. Smart, attractive people who are in the know are waiting it out for the smaller, sleeker, sexier model, aren’t we, guys? Guys?

According to Digitimes, Apple could be gearing up to expand its iPad line to include not only the standard 9.7-inch behemoth, but 5.6- and 7-inch models as well. And it could be doing so by Christmas 2G’s+10. The Digitmes source reported that Apple had “recently placed new iPad orders to Taiwan-based component makers for the fourth quarter of 2010 and the first quarter of 2011 with 9.7-inch, 5.6-inch and 7-inch models all included.”

Perhaps more intriguing is that iPad Pocket is rumoured to adopt an OLED display – unlikely, considering the scant stock of OLED panels as it is. According to Mingchi Kuo, Digitimes’ senior analyst, Samsung, the current largest manufacturer of OLED panels, doesn’t even have enough to supply its own range of gadgetry, further discrediting the possibility of an OLED iPad by Christmas.

But OLED or not, a smaller iPad may be just what the doctor ordered for those who want to snack on some moist, delicious content without having to lug an iPad Fat around with them. Seriously, first time I picked up an iPad? Felt like lifting a small child. Here’s hoping Digitimes is right.

Also, that picture won’t stop killing me. I hope I get to see Steve live in mid-hyperbole some day.

  1. If these fun-sized iPads are true, logically the iPod Touch would sort of be grouped with the others..

    3″ > 5.6″ > 7″ > 9.7″

Maybe the iPod Touch name will be dropped..
