AMD and NVIDIA have been battling for control over the GPU market for almost a decade now and it’s become clear that AMD is losing… badly. Around this time last year, the company had a 38% share of the discrete GPU market, which is still pretty good, but that percentage has been cut in half in the year since then. According to a report from Mercury Research, AMD now has a measly 18% market share, and while that number is expected to increase in the coming months thanks to the release of the company’s new 300-series cards, it’s doubtful that it’ll be a significant increase.
