There is a lot of technology that’s crammed into the little devices millions of people want to wear on their wrists with Apple’s logo on them, but one would probably not consider the band to be an important part of it. According to Apple, it’s important… VERY important. It’s so important that they are willing to allow others to develop bands for the Apple Watch but only if they’re willing to follow an extremely detailed set of instructions and specifications.
A 13-page developers’ document from Apple outlines many, many recommendations and requirements for those looking to make their own bands, including rigorous standards for testing as well as recommendations for what materials should be used to make them.
