Bad Apple: Forum Threads? WHAT Forum Threads?

Oh, hey there, wanna hear some more about The Signal Issue? Probably not, right? Old hat. Apparently, Apple doesn’t wanna hear any more about it, either – a bunch of threads about Consumer Reports’ recent findings have been deleted from Apple’s official support forum. What did Consumer Reports recently find? That they could not recommend the iPhone 4 until and unless the signal issue is fixed.

Bummer.

Utilizing a radio frequency isolation chamber, CR purchased three iPhones from three separate retailers and put them through the paces, emulating AT&T’s signals and stacking up the results next to other AT&T phones. The results? Of course: the signal problem is real, and bad enough to warrant not buying the phone.

“Our findings call into question the recent claim by Apple that the iPhone 4’s signal-strength issues were largely an optical illusion caused by faulty software that ‘mistakenly displays 2 more bars than it should for a given signal strength,” rapped CR, straight gangsta style, adding, “Apple needs to come up with a permanent — and free — fix for the antenna problem before we can recommend the iPhone 4,”

Apple’s Orwellian response is still happening at the time of writing, though as this story punches a hole in the day’s news, I’m sure we’ll suddenly see a change in the winds. But as awesome as that may be, it shouldn’t take this to get Apple to be honest. Come on, guys, those bumpers probably cost you less than a dollar to make. Just… just give us some bumpers.

Please?
