Shapify.me is a new website that turns 3D scans from your Kinect into a physical, 3D printer figurine. In order to make use of their website, it requires that users have audio speakers, a USB 2.0 connection, an internet connection, a Kinect for the Xbox or Windows.
Create a 3D printed figurine of yourself using your Kinect
For $59 a piece, consumers can make a full-color 3D print figurine of themselves through the Shapify.me web service using Microsft Kinect’s 3D scanning technology, according 3D printing developers Artec Group. Users are free to scan any object “capable of maintaining the same pose and facial expression” but Artec do not recommend “scanning any transparent, shiny or glossy surfaces.” All figurines produced are $59, including shipping and handling, “regardless actual size or material.”
