Windows 10 is almost here, and in preparation, HP has announced that every consumer PC that it released this year will be eligible for a free Windows 10 upgrade from Microsoft. They’re not just upgrade-ready either, all of the PCs are made to support the new operating system and its wealth of new features, such as Continuum and Cortana. This is thanks to the fact that HP worked very closely with Microsoft when designing this year’s computer lineup.
Hot on the heels of Microsoft’s Windows 10 announcement, HP has announced that its full 2015 roster of consumer PCs is Windows 10-ready, and eligible for Microsoft’s free upgrade. Along with upgrades for Windows 8 and select Windows 7 business systems, all of the current HP models are made to support Windows 10, including features like Continuum and Cortana. Microsoft’s recent Windows 10 announcement pegged the arrival of Windows 10 on July 29, and confirmed that the new OS will be available as a free upgrade to Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users. This is great news for anyone who recently bought an HP system, or was considering purchasing one prior to the July 29 launch, as there will be no regret about missing the new OS by a few weeks, and no need to hold off on a purchase. In a press release from HP, the company detailed several current PCs that are not only Windows 10-ready, but have been built to support specific new features. For example, convertible systems, like the HP Spectre X360 and the HP Envy x360 15t, will support features like Continuum, which switches back and forth between tablet and desktop navigation as the keyboard and trackpad are disengaged by folding it into tablet mode.
