It’s Always a Party When Twitter Gets Naked

tumblr l83uj7kT2X1qz51zro1 r4 500

After my outrage at iTunes 10, you may think of me as a nitpicker. Well, you know what, guilty as charged. And while we’re picking nits, I’ve got some frowning to do about Twitter. That sidebar is getting more brutally ugly and obtrusive by the day; multiple links to who I’m following, a search bar that goes largely unused, a yet-more-unused Lists pane, and… who with an IQ over 70 actually follows the trending topics? I mean, Twitter is still pretty simple stacked up against, say, Facebook, but hey, Biz, can you tone it down? Just a bit? Y’know, streamline that experience?

You’re probably ready to hit the comment box, but you know who agrees with me? Designer Jacob Bijani, who has gone to the trouble of removing the Twitter sidebar entirely with a Safari extension that does exactly what it says on the tin.

Naked Twitter removes that mess of a sidebar from the website, leaving in its wake a few small icons to handle the most important functions. No nonsense. Just tweets n’ sh*t. Frankly, this is how it always should have been. Hats off, Jake.

Ironically, if you’re this passionate about Twitter, there’s little to no chance that you’re using Twitter.com anyway – almost any Twitter app is better than the website itself.

You know what’s even better than Naked Twitter? Naked Youtube.

Thank me later.
