Hey, remember before the iPad announcement, when an exec from McGraw-Hill let slip that the tablet device was about to launch? And there were all those rumors that Jobs and Apple got really mad and excised McGraw-Hill from the launch event?
Well, regardless if they were true, you gotta’ wonder what will happen to Robert Watson of Canadian wireless company SaskTel, who suggested the following:
“The good news is that (Apple) is coming out with a new version of the iPhone in the June time-frame and they’re going to put us on that,” Watson was quoted as saying. “So we’re quite excited about that.”
Uh-oh!
So, fine, we all know that a new iPhone is coming this summer. But to have an executive from a telecommunications company confirm that so openly is unusual, and seems to contravene Apple’s well-known Stasi-like policy of secrecy and covert operations.
More to the point though, it just solidifies a series of rumors about the next revision of the iPhone, among the most exciting of which are a high-def screen, a similar A4 processor to the one found in the iPad and a front-facing camera for video-calls.
Still, if I were Robert Watson, I would be peering out of my windows at night…
