On Friday, social network and recruiting site LinkedIn announced via blog post that it had officially surpassed 300 million members, with 100 million members based in the U.S. alone. Acquiring roughly 100 million users since January 2013, the company noted that much of the growth in traffic has come from two areas: internationally and on mobile. LinkedIn stressed that it was on the verge of its “mobile moment,” meaning that sometime in 2014, mobile use will actually surpass desktop traffic.

LinkedIn proudly broadcasted its increasing mobile traffic last week, but that’s not the only growth the company is experiencing. LinkedIn announced Friday it has reached 300 million registered users, a jump from 277 million members at the beginning of the year. LinkedIn announced the 200 million user milestone in January 2013, which means the company has added an average of 6.6 million new users per month over the past 15 months. This registered users figure is different from the number shared by other social networks likeFacebook and Twitter. Those companies share a “monthly active user” statistic, not total registered accounts. Instead, LinkedIn uses an engagement number produced by comScore to highlight their active audience, according to a company spokesperson.
