At the end of the day, hardware and software differences play a minuscule role in convincing gamers to choose one consoles over the other, it’s the exclusive games that really matter. That’s why Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft’s Xbox division, announced today that the company will be focusing primarily on first-party exclusives during Microsoft’s E3 conference, which is less than a couple of months away, so Xbox One owners better prepare their wallets.
With the annual E3 gaming conference set to take place in less than two months, publishers are solidifying the titles they’ll show to the public and making preparations. According to the head of Microsoft’s gaming unit, gamers can expect a lot of first-party exclusive Xbox One titles to be part of those plans. Responding to a question from a fan on Twitter, Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft’s Xbox division, said he wants this E3 to be “more about” first-party titles than previous iterations of the conference. Additionally, some of those games will be “new exclusive” original titles. Spencer later clarified his remarks further, responding to another fan by saying this may be the best year for first-party content on Microsoft consoles than ever before. Despite the focus on first-party content, however, Spencer said Microsoft will still have third party “deals” to showcase, but noted it’s “important to focus on and support” the company’s first-party content.
