Nexus One Found Dead at Six Months

Did you ever get a look at the Nexus One? I remember, back in The Day, I was even going to champion the Nexus when I moved up to a smartphone. But it looks like I’ll never get my chance – Google’s discontinuing the Android-packing iPhone killer.

According to ReadWriteWeb, Google only managed to sell 135 thousand phones in the same amount of time it took Apple to sell a million. That’s not an awful lot of phones. So Google’s calling it quits. Well, almost.

“Customer support will still be available for current Nexus One customers,” says Google’s announcement. “And Nexus One will continue to be sold by partners including Vodafone in Europe, KT in Korea, and possibly others based on local market conditions.” That’s not so bad. I mean, if you don’t mind importing a Korean phone. I for one don’t need a Nexus that bad, good phone though it may be.

For those of you experiencing shock, remember: Android will be fine. Nothing is f***ed here. We just have to carry on. Be strong. Keep hope alive. It’s what the Nexus would have wanted.

  1. I am really disappointed to see this. The Nexus One is a great phone and I was really looking forward to seeing what they were going to do with the Nexus 2. It was great to be able to use Android without a cellphone carrier messing with it. RIP Nexus One.
