Samsung is making your smartphone’s memory three times faster

Thanks to Samsung, your next smartphone may come equipped with flash memory that’s almost three times faster than the storage technology that most of the current flagship smartphones use today. The South Korean company announced yesterday that is has started mass producing its first 128GB embedded memory based on the next-generation UFS 2.0 standard.

Your next smartphone could have memory that’s nearly three times faster than the embedded eMMC 5.0 storage used in today’s flagship handsets. Samsung said Wednesday that it is now mass producing its first 128GB ultra-fast embedded memory based on the next-generation Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 2.0 standard. The South Korean tech giant will also be producing 32GB and 64GB versions of its new UFS modules. “With our mass production of ultra-fast UFS memory of the industry’s highest capacity, we are making a significant contribution to enable a more advanced mobile experience for consumers. In the future, we will increase the proportion of high-capacity memory solutions, in leading the continued growth of the premium memory market,” Jee-ho Baek, senior vice president of memory marketing at Samsung, said in a statement.
