Sony’s Xperia Z Ultra phablet recieves the latest Android update

Two popular Android smartphones has been brought recently to the latest version of the OS – 4.4 KitKat. Sony has launched the official KitKat update for the Xperia Z Ultra phablet. The first device to get it is apparently the C6833 LTE model in Hong Kong. The new firmware is available only over the air for now, but we expect Sony to launch it soon via its PC Companion. We also hope other markets will be joining Hong Kong soon enough.

A couple of weeks ago, we reported that the Android 4.4 KitKat update would soon be making its way onto devices like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, and sure enough it has. According to a report from the XDA Developers forum, it seems that the update has begun to make its way to users in Hong Kong (model number C6833), meaning that we expect it might take a while before it reaches other parts of the world. As it stands the update is only available OTA, meaning that users will not be able to flash the update to their phones manually since we have not seen or heard about any leaked files to date. However if users really want to try and see if there is an update available for them, they can hit up their phone’s settings to try and pull it manually.
