Simplifying life has been an unofficial mantra of Apple for years and their marketing ha proven to be effective in portraying this to people. Their latest marketing push for “iCloud Harmony” highlights the ability of various devices to sync with the iPhone. Is this technology really worthy of Apple marketing?
Perhaps I’m a snob but this is something that I’ve come to expect with mobile devices. I have all 3 mobile operating systems in my pocket at any given time and both Android and Windows 7 allow me to take photos from them and have them on my computer and tablets, just as Apple is promoting with iCloud. Granted, it wasn’t an automatic thing and I tend to be a geek about such things, but it still struck me as a minor feature amongst a plethora of major ones that Apple could promote.
Then again, Apple has mastered the art of marketing and I’m a simple consumer receiving the messages. Unfortunately (or thankfully) marketing has never been my thing. Here’s the video. Let me know what you think.

I don’t think you’re a snob, but I DO think that the average berson has a hard time grasping what “cloud computing REALLY is and more importantly, how it would effect them. I thought the spot hadeled it realy well.
I agree. Most people have their smartphone set to text, Facebook, and Angry Birds. They don’t realize the potential that the iPhone has for connectivity and productivity.
Sorry, but I don’t think much of your article. Take your anti-Apple bias to the op-ed page.
