There’s a type of exercise that can make your muscles and bones strong, relieve stress, strengthen your heart, and burn calories like an incinerator. Unfortunately most women aren’t doing it. The problem? Stigma and lies.
Lifting weights can do all these things for women, but unfortunately there’s a stigma associated with women who are physically strong. There are also a lot of unfounded rumors out there that prevent women from giving it a try.
It is thought that lifting weights will make a woman bulky. This simply isn’t true, because women don’t have nearly as much testosterone as men, which prevents them from building large muscles. It is also said that lifting weights can make you stiff and inflexible, but this just isn’t true as long as you do it properly. Women are also told that their muscles will turn to fat when they stop lifting weights, but as long as your caloric intake is appropriate for your activity level you have nothing to worry about.
Learn about the many positive benefits of lifting weights from this infographic. You might be surprised and a little angry about the lies you’ve been told your whole life. Be strong out there, ladies!
