Even with next to no traditional marketing, the ZTE Axon still managed to pop up on everyone’s radar thanks to its high-end specs and premium feel, both of which come at the low price of $450. The high-power and low-price put the ZTE Axon against the likes of the Moto X Pure and OnePlus 2, and while it may not be as popular as either of them, it definitely holds its own as one of this year’s best affordable smartphones. With that in mind, it’s exciting to see rumors that ZTE is working on a new Axon tablet.
It looks like ZTE is also planning to release a new tablet under its Axon line of devices if a listing on GFXbench is to be believed. The listing shows a device with model number A2016, the ZTE Axon smartphone is the A2015, feeding into the speculation that this is indeed the Axon tablet. According to the listing, the ZTE Axon Tablet a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor coupled with an Adreno 430 GPU, the same SoC and graphics chip as the Axon smartphone, a 13.7-inch full HD 1080p display, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. It’s also equipped with a 7-megapixel rear camera and a 1.8-megapixel front-facing camera. The listing also mentioned that the new device will run Android 5.0.2 which is quite unusual as most devices not run Android 5.1.1 but an update could be made available at the same time the product launches so the lower OS version is negligible. The listing also didn’t include what kind and capacity of battery the Axon Tablet will feature so we don’t know how long the expected battery life on it will be.
