ZTE wants you to unlock your smartphone with your eyes

Entering in passcodes or recreating patterns to unlock your smartphones takes less than a second in most cases is still a minor annoyance, especially when you accidentally mess up, are in a hurry, or aren’t in a position to enter in anything. Facial recognition and fingerprint scanning have been offered as alternatives with varying success but ZTE believes it has a better solution: eye-based biometric scanning.ย

ZTE, a leading global mobile device maker, today announced at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona that a new flagship device, the ZTE Grand S3, will be launched with a pioneering eye-based biometric solution from EyeVerify. The solution, Eyeprint ID โ„ข, allows users a password-free method of unlocking the Grand S3, offering an enhanced level of privacy and security to the device. ZTEโ€™s Grand S3 is one of the first smartphones in the world to offer this solution.ย โ€œWe are delighted to announce our partnership with EyeVerify that brings their leading Eyeprint IDโ„ข solution to the ZTE Grand S3,โ€ said Adam ZENG Xuezhong, Executive Vice President of ZTE Corporation and CEO of ZTE Mobile Devices. โ€œOur ZTE Grand series of smartphones is focused on offering the most secure devices in the market for business users worldwide. Coupled with EyeVerifyโ€™s leading solution, the ZTE Grand S3 represents an unbeatable option for smartphone privacy.โ€
