Adding insult to injury, not has Apple been selling record numbers of iPhones almost every quarter, last quarter saw the largest percentage of Android users switching over to iOS in history. According to CEO Tim Cook,ย around 30% of the new iPhone buyers from last quarter had switched over from Android, and Apple expects that percentage to go even higher by the time the holidays come to an end in late December.ย
Apple keeps breaking records with the number of iPhones it sells each quarter, but CEO Tim Cook isnโt worried about that growth slowing down. Why? Android.ย Cook said during the companyโs fourth-quarter earnings call Tuesday afternoon that 30 percent of new iPhone buyers in the quarter that ended in late September were switching from Android, which is a new record. And just two days of iPhone 6s and 6s Plus sales were included in the companyโs Q4 earnings, so that percentage of Android switchers may be higher in the holiday quarter that ends in late December.ย โWhat this means is that for customers who purchased an iPhone last quarter and replaced a smartphone, 30 percent of those switched from an Android device,โ Cook said. โThere wouldโve been some switchers from other operating systems, but Android is the largest one by far. That number is the largest weโve ever recorded since we began measuring it three years ago. Weโre very proud of that number.โ
