iPod Nano Gets Its Camera Back, Becomes Spy Gear

Straight outta Asia comes the rumour that the seventh-gen iPod Nano may, in fact, be getting its camera back. Fans of the Nano likely remember a time before Big Steve decided the unit had to better live up to its name by being condensed into an unnecessarily small space. That time bore unto us an iPod that was light on stature, but big on the ability to take pictures – an ability that was heartbreakingly removed from the bite-size current model.

However, Apple.pro has leaked a photograph which seems to do little but confirm the existence of an impending camera on the next Nano, which will retain its current ridiculously small size. Personally, my rule of thumb is that any piece of electronics small enough to flush down a toilet without hassle is too small – but then again, there’s something totally James Bond about a music watch that can take photographs. This is really a double-edged sword.

In the age of the pervasion of mobile devices, it would seem traditional wrist-mounted chronometers have fallen by the wayside. Citizens itching for the time tend to check their phones more than their watches, and even iPod Nano wrist straps aren’t catching on like the wildfire one would have expected. So the big question is this: what’s a wrist for, now that the mobile scene has laid claim to time itself?

I fully expect for mobile devices to corner the market on some of these concepts eventually, too. Come to think of it, you can probably already get a turntable or terrarium app as it is.

This is where it’s at, guys. Remember the 5th gen Nano? Wimpy capacity aside, that thing was the tits. Truly the best Nano to date, and much rockin’er than that poufy little square screen Steve dares pass off as an ‘iPod’ today.

Anyway, in the event you’ve still got one of those things, I don’t suppose you’d like to strap it to your head, would you? Actually, don’t answer that. That’s a stupid question. Everyone wants to strap an MP3 player to their head.

Personally, I’d get a toy gun and walk around waving it in front of my face, filming Doom: The Movie. Because let’s face it – The previous Doom: The Movie blows.
