On August 6, 1991, the World Wide Web was officially launched by its father, Tim “NotAlGore” Berners-Lee. He posted a project summary here and the rest is history.
The World Wide Web has its foundation in work that Berners-Lee did in the 1980s at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research. He had been looking for a way for physicists to share information around the world without all using the same types of hardware and software. This culminated in his 1989 paper proposing ‘A large hypertext database with typed links’.
Read the story of how it all went down on TheNextWeb.
Al Gore never claimed to have invented the internet. That is just one of the many republican lies told over the years that stupid people like you believe.
I assume it was meant as a joke, since it’s pretty common knowledge that he…
1) Didn’t make the claim.
2) Is associated with making the claim.
3) Was promoted as a fact by mostly-liberal news media before being debunked by (GULP!) Fox News.
Of course, you probably blame most things not given to you out of entitlement as part of the “republican lie”.
He did say:
“During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country’s economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system.”
What Mr. Al gore meant was that he took the initiatives, as per new responsibilities given to him by President, Mr. Clinton, to open up the Internet and make it accessible to the whole world. One can log in to the Internet from any spot in the world. that is due to legislations and decisions made by Mr. Al Rore, definitely.During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country’s economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system.”
