Spotify says that it will never support Google Cast

Google Cast is a new technology from Google that allows users to beam their music from an Android device to compatible speakers, similar to how Apple’s AirPlay works. While this kind of thing seems like ti would be especially useful for music streaming services like Spotify or Rdio, Spotify has made it very clear that it does not intend to support Google Cast.

You might recall that earlier this week, we reported on the Google Cast which is a new piece of technology that Google had announced. Essentially this is the Chromecast for music where users could beam their music from their devices onto Google Cast-enabled speakers, which we guess in some way is similar to Apple’s AirPlay as well. This is great news for those who love to listen to music and control their playback wirelessly, but if you’re using a streaming service such as Spotify, you’re out of luck. The company has recently announced that they will not be support Google Cast anytime soon. Instead Spotify has chosen to focus on their “Spotify Connect” services instead.

What do you think?
