Canada's largest energy company wants to replace truck drivers with autonomous dump trucks

Heavy equipment operators have salaries that can reach up to six figures. Add in the cost of housing oil sands workers and it’s no wonder Suncor, a Canadian oil company, wants to replace human workers with autonomous machines. 

Extracting oil from oil sands requires some of the most massive trucks and heavy equipment on Earth. Now, in a bid to cut costs, a Canadian company wants to have those trucks drive themselves.
