Google’s goal is to create the ultimate personal assistant

Google understands that people’s expectations for what a search engine should do are rapidly changing. Google Engineering Director Scott Huffman claims that the old search results page which has remained largely unchanged for the last 15 years needs to go. Replacing it is something far smarter, something that more closely resembles a personal assistant than your average search engine.

Google Search is changing rapidly. Given the company’s love of small, rapid-fire updates, its sometimes hard to keep track of where the company is going, but earlier this month, at the LeWeb conference in Paris, Google Engineering Director Scott Huffman presented a pretty compelling overview of the direction Google is taking in search.
