LG is keeping it old school with a new Android flip phone

While we wait for LG to release its upcoming “super premium phone,” the company has something rather amusing and nostalgic to hold us over: a new flip phone. Known as the LG Gentle, this new Android-powered flip phone actually looks pretty cool, but it’s doubtful that the device will ever be launched outside of Asia. Even so, it’s definitely and interesting product.

LG is working on a “super premium phone” for later this year but, in the meantime, the company has something else to share. The South Korean giant just revealed its latest Android-powered flip phone, called the LG Gentle, and it looks kind of awesome. The LG Gentle runs Android 5.1 Lollipop along with the company’s own software, designed to take advantage of the phone’s unique form factor. It also features a physical keyboard with a dedicated camera button, along with Back, Home and Recent buttons. There’s even a special Q key you can set to launch a specific frequently used app. Diving into the specs, LG’s new phone features a 3.2-inch 480 x 320-pixel LCD screen, a 1.1GHz quad-core processor, a 3-megapixel rear camera, a front-facing VGA shooter, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of expandable storage. It’s 16.6 mm thick, weighs 143 grams and comes in navy blue or burgundy.
