HTC, as with most smartphone manufacturers, primarily makes products that are powered by Google’s Android operating system, but that may change soon. There have been rumors floating around that the company is experimenting with Mozilla’s Firefox OS, possibly for future smartphones.
The bulk of HTC’s smartphones run on Android. It has dabbled with Windows Phone devices but for now the Taiwanese company’s handsets are almost exclusive to Google’s mobile operating system. That doesn’t mean it won’t look at other options. A rumor floating around today claims that the company is running tests on Firefox OS. Mozilla is working hard to establish Firefox OS as a player and its focusing mainly on the very low-end segment of the emerging markets.
