Further highlighting how insanely popular streaming music services are right now, iHeartRadio has announced that is has joined the ranks of Spotify by hitting more than 60 million registered users across the globe. While this is still far smaller than Pandora’s 250 million registered users, it’s impressive nonetheless.
Streaming music service iHeartRadio has hit 60 million registered users, putting it among the biggest players in the market. iHeartRadio launched its Pandora-like streaming service in September 2011 — it had previously just broadcast radio online — and since then, has seen consistent user growth. Backed by radio and advertising giant iHeartMedia, formerly known as Clear Channel Communications, that growth was thanks in part to letting listeners stream music on mobile devices without registering first. iHeartMedia announced the numbers on Friday.
