Mobile carriers reject smartphone 'kill switch' because it could be misused by hackers

New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman and San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón have been pushing for a ‘kill switch’ that would render smartphones inoperable after they are stolen to be installed into smartphones. Mobile carriers have rejected the idea claiming that it could be misused by hackers.
